So, if you live anywhere near Atlanta today, you can’t help but know that there are two huge games in town. Georgia Bulldogs vs Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide vs Virginia Tech Hokies. Which leads you to wonder what the Florida Gator has to do with anything… let me explain.
We’re in a hotel near downtown Atlanta this morning to prep for a big worship event today. At breakfast we were surrounded in Roll Tide and Virginia Tech folks all decked out for today’s game. Within our group we’re mostly Georgia fans – but there were a couple of Roll Tide hold outs. Of course the morning was filled with jabs at each other’s teams – we may or may not of accused one another of blasphemy. Good fun, good friends and good competitive sportsmanship – everyone taking the side of their team and defending them to the finish.
Then one of our team members sat down and said, “Go Gators!” Suddenly our entire group of Georgia AND Alabama fans united…. because regardless of how we feel about one another – none of us can support a Gator 🙂 With two small words, we who were once divided were united and in agreement.
It was a morning filled with laughter and good-spirited jabs at one another. But it served as a good reminder to me that regardless of how much there is in this world to divide us, there will always be something that can bring us back together in unity. We can often get so caught up in focusing on areas that we disagree with each other – politically, spiritually and in sports – that we forget that there’s much more that unites us.
Psalms 133:1 Â Â Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!
Have a great day everyone! Oh, and…. Go Dawgs!!!!
