In My Seat

A friend of mine posted a link to this video yesterday on Facebook. I don’t always watch videos that are posted, especially a 15 minute one – boy am I glad I watched this one.

The date is September 10, 2001…
Imagine being the pilot who was scheduled for AA Flight 11 – right up until the last minute, you’re packed, planned and ready to go…. then at the last minute, a pilot senior to you takes the flight. No big deal. Until you wake up the next morning, September 11, 2001…

This 15 minute account of those 24 hours, filmed and edited by the pilot’s son as a college project, is an account of living with the understanding that someone else was “…in my seat…”

… someone else died in his place.

… someone else died in your place.

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will[a] go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
