Don’t Go Alone

Young adults should not have to enter adulthood without family.

Don’t Go Alone is a movement of Connections Homes that connects young adults aging out of foster care or experiencing homelessness without family support to trained Mentoring Families who commit to walking with them for life.

A lifelong connection can change the trajectory of a life.

Every year, young adults leave foster care or unstable circumstances without the safety net most of us depend on: someone to call, somewhere to go for holidays, a trusted adult to help think through hard decisions, and a family-like connection that does not disappear when life gets complicated.

Don’t Go Alone exists to close that relational gap by helping young adults choose and build enduring connections with trained Mentoring Families.

The crisis is not only poverty or homelessness. It is relational disconnection.

Without safe, stable support, young adults are often left to navigate housing, work, education, parenting, relationships, grief, trauma, and adulthood alone. DGA is built on a different belief: lasting change begins when people are safely connected.

Belonging

Young adults need to be known, chosen, and invited into a connection that feels safe enough to trust over time.

Guidance

Mentoring Families offer practical wisdom, steady encouragement, and real-life support as young adults build their future.

Endurance

The commitment is not temporary. DGA is designed around lifelong, life-changing connection.

How Don’t Go Alone works.

DGA is built around choice, preparation, support, and a commitment to relationships that continue long after a match is made.

1. Identify

Connection-ready young adults and families are identified through community, church, nonprofit, and referral partnerships.

2. Prepare

Mentoring Families are trained in trauma-informed connection, healthy boundaries, and the Redemptive Connection Framework™.

3. Choose

Young adults are given voice and choice in the matching process because belonging cannot be forced.

4. Connect

A match begins an ongoing relationship marked by consistency, trust-building, shared life, and practical support.

5. Support

Connections Homes staff support the relationship over time so youth and families are not left to navigate the journey alone.

DGA is not just a program. It is a way of saying, “You don’t have to do this alone.”

The Don’t Go Alone movement is rooted in the belief that young adults need more than resources. They need people — safe, committed, trained adults who will remain present through the long road of becoming.

Through Connections Homes, DGA gives communities a practical way to step into the relational gap and help young adults move toward belonging, stability, and hope.
