Practicing Peace

I actually took the photo that you see on this post. I remember when I took it. I was standing on the balcony of a cruse ship next to my husband and daughters as we departed a port – we were all mesmerized by the beauty of this particular sunset. In that moment, we were all there together, standing side by side, shoulder to shoulder – in silence. The beauty of God’s creation was peaceful and captivating. I long for that moment again.

Worship is a Lifestyle.

We are in the middle of a series about worship, learning that there is much more to the concept of worship than joining in on Sunday mornings to sing a few songs. Our lifestyle of worship is defined more by what we do with the entirety of our life rather than a moment in our week. Everything we do is an extension of our worship of God.

Yes You Can.

This says it all.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with only one step.

Empty Pilot's Seat

In My Seat

A friend of mine posted a link to this video yesterday on Facebook. I don’t always watch videos that are posted, especially a 15 minute one – boy am I glad I watched this one.

The date is September 10, 2001…
Imagine being the pilot who was scheduled for AA Flight 11 – right up until the last minute, you’re packed, planned and ready to go…. then at the last minute, a pilot senior to you takes the flight. No big deal. Until you wake up the next morning, September 11, 2001…

Never Give Up.

Never, never, never give up.
Winston Churchill

I love that quote.

It became very real to me during Sunday’s 1/2 marathon. In mile 5 I felt my knee pop as I took the inside of a turn. Initially, it didn’t hurt, but at around mile 6 I tried to slow to a walk for a hydration station and couldn’t walk… I had to limp. I realized at that point that something was wrong with my knee, but I brought myself painfully back up to a run and kept at it … at mile 7 I had a downhill opportunity to pick up some speed and regain some time – only, my knee didn’t agree. It was extremely painful going downhill. I had to WALK it down!
