#19: Mother’s Day. What can you say about a day that celebrates the most important role in life? The role of a parent, in this instance the role of mom. Yesterday was Mother’s Day and my girls made it a very, very special day. First, it was amazing that God allowed Heather’s adoption finalization to fall on the Friday before Mother’s Day, giving me a wonderful blessing and gift all on its own. But, also, my girls and their dad did a terrific job of giving me a day to relax and be celebrated. Here’s just a few things that made this Mother’s Day special:

Cards. I got a different card from all three of them. They were each special and filled with so much love - I’ll keep them all forever.

Flowers. Each of my girls got me a rose. Heather’s rose was a beautiful pink rose that smelled delightful. Kristan’s rose was an enormous fake rose that filled us all with delight as we laughed at its over sized beauty.

Gifts. My girls bought me a variety of things that they gave me at different intervals throughout the day. Picture frames. Necklaces. iPod Arm Band.

Lunch. My wonderful hubby had Thai food delivered to our house so that I didn’t have to cook or get dressed to go out. Now that’s wonderful.

Love. The most special thing they did was to spend time creating what I’ve named my “Hourly Affirmations” - I loved this because it’s my love language. It represented time that they took to creatively express how they think of me and what I mean to them as their mother. It was beautiful and I enjoyed a different affirmation every hour, all day long. You can’t ask for anything better than that. Each girl wrote different special sayings, I loved them all. I’ll share them with you here:

“You call me your blessing, but it’s really you who blessed me.” ~ Kristan

“You are the greatest mom that could ever live.” ~ Heather

“You constantly walk in faith.” ~ Kristan

“You don’t back down when Satan challenges you.” ~ Kristan

“You are a strong woman after God’s own heart.” ~ Kristan

“We have faith, hope and love that holds us together.” ~ Heather

“You serve God faithfully.” ~ Kristan

“You fear the Lord and love Him.” ~ Kristan

“You’re the best.” ~ Heather

“You’re the best teacher in the world.” ~ Kristan

“You’re in my heart ‘cuz that’s how special you are.” ~ Heather

“You are always loving.” ~ Kristan

“Who could ever go through life without loving you?” ~ Heather

“Who could ever go through life without the love and support of a mom?” ~ Kristan

“Mom, you’re my favorite, keep up the good job.” ~ Heather

“You’re awesome, I love ya!” ~ Heather

“You’re my number one!” ~ Heather

“You’re always willing to help out.” ~ Kristan

“You’re beautiful.” ~ Heather
